hey cherubs! long time, no blog...how've you been?
I hope that you guys are doing well! school is not over yet, so don't expect regular blogs back yet, but get ready for them!
to make it easier on myself and so that I am not overloading you guys with so much info that you don't know what to do with, I am going to schedule one post per week.
but today, we are going to be talking about medication.
with mental health affecting 1 in 5 people in the United States, it is easy for us to think that it's something that could happen to us. and that's true, it can happen to anyone.
mental illness doesn't pick favorites. anyone-- rich or poor, young or old, healthy or unhealthy, women or men-- can struggle with mental health issues. it does not discriminate.
many of these people who struggle with mental health issues are on medication to help ease the severity of the symptoms. medication can be something that people depend on to function, or it can just be an aid in daily life. either way, there is no shame in taking meds, they are what's helping you be a better version of yourself.
here recently, I started taking medication to help with anxiety and depression. to those of you who know me personally, it may not seem like I would be someone to deal with these sorts of issues, but I do. I've dealt with both of these illnesses for years now and have just finally made the decision to start medication.
to me, medication was always for the "really bad" symptoms. my anxiety and depression aren't debilitating, thankfully, but they are bad enough to interfere with my daily life. taking these medications helps me feel more comfortable in my own skin, something I think everyone should be able to do.
if you are someone that deals with debilitating anxiety or depression, I know the feeling and I hope you find relief! I have had bad episodes of both feelings and I can't imagine dealing with them so often. just know that you deserve the same amount of help that someone like me deserves.
it doesn't matter the severity of an illness, it's still an illness. you shouldn't be ashamed if your happiness comes from a pill. you are not alone in taking meds. Medicine is made to help us live happier and healthier lives, be thankful for it!!
thank you guys for supporting me and what I love to do(:
see you in the next one!
xx Loryn
