halloween self-care

10/28/22

I cannot believe that it is almost halloween!! you can best bet that my Weiner dog is dressing up as a hot dog for the occasion. (I know this is hilarious XD)

but with spooky season comes seasonal depression (which we've been over before & I will not elaborate) but when this time of year comes around, it is ultra important for us to take care of ourselves.

we may not be able to stop the seasonal affective disorder, but we can help make it as least worrisome as possible by taking care and listening to our bodies.

here is a list of self-care activities to initiate spooky weekend:

  • dig your cold weather pjs out of the closet

  • paint pumpkins with inspirational quotes or saying

  • do something to celebrate your body

  • do a thing that you've been afraid to do

  • embrace the concept of warmth in your life

  • buy or make something to add to your fall wardrobe

  • choose a day to unplug and enjoy the weather

  • wash your bedding & bring out the warm blankets

  • make soup or a crock pot recipe

  • check in with how you are feeling

  • enjoy your morning beverage outside

  • let go of that thing that's been bothering you

  • start a 7-day gratitude practice

  • give yourself a massage with lotion

  • pick one bad habit that you want to work on

  • light candles or the fireplace and relax

  • strive to create more balance in life

  • declutter and get rid of things you no longer need

  • spend time outside journaling or reading

  • bake some goodies and share them with the people you love

  • warm blankets & windows open call for a restful nap

  • indulge in pumpkin bread, coffee, or muffins

  • go on a nature walk & take pictures of the season

  • slow down & savor the little moments

  • get spiritual. meditate, read, or spend time in prayer

  • apple cider, candied apples, and apple picking

  • write a letter to release emotions

  • practice hygge, the art of coziness

  • honor the ancestors in some way

  • sit by a fire pit or heater

all of these are just ideas of course!! it is up to you to discover whatever works for you.

and maybe your idea of self-care is talking to your therapist, getting a different medication, or having a grippy sock vacation (iykyk). but you have the option to do whatever is best for you.

asking for help is nothing to be ashamed of & this is the time to do so! keep yourself in check and make sure things aren't set up for failure by creating bad habits. create the good habits now while the weather is still somewhat warm & before winter arrives to freeze us all out of willingness to do much of anything...

this list of autumn self-care is from a girl known as "blessings manifesting." her name is Dominee and she's amazing! I admire her work and have used her templates to give you guys information before many times.

have a wonderful halloween weekend and stay safe!
