May is Mental Health Awareness Month

5/1/23

hello cherubs!

I've missed blogging and inspiring you guys about the journey that mental health takes us on, but we're back!

starting back at the perfect time, mental health awareness month!!

this month we are going to be discussing all things mental health with blog posts coming each and every Friday of the month...

what to expect:

  • posts on the Facebook page daily

  • extra big blog posts on Fridays

  • mental health check-ins

  • & more!

for whatever reason, mental health is seen as a "hush-hush" topic amongst our society. reaching out for help has been labeled as a sign of weakness & is frowned upon for a lot of people. the stigma around therapy is that "only crazy people go to therapy."

all of these "ideas" are preconceived notions that have taken hold and grown over time. usually these notions are provided by people that have never struggled with mental health issues before and just assume that they know best.

our mental health has a direct correlation to our physical health, meaning that when one isn't doing well, the other probably isn't either. this stigma makes those suffering from mental health disorders feel more isolated which in turn makes them less apt to ask for help and often times makes their condition worse.

talking about or being willing to talk about mental health can significantly decrease the stigma that has been built around it. by talking about it, this will help individuals ask for help, learn how to cope, and help them get on track of the road to recovery.

  • combat the stigma

  • help individuals know they aren't alone

  • encourage care and support

  • lower the risk of suicide

  • maintain a good mental health

this month (& every month) we are going to be discussing the misconceptions, diagnoses, struggles, and more that individuals with mental health disorders go through on a daily basis to do our part to breaking the stigma surrounding mental health.

stay tuned for more!

you deserve to be here

xx Loryn
